Setting up the virtual product development process for an electric vehicle programme with a distributed team.

Tasks
  • Build a team for the virtual product development process, with local and global members
  • Create the timing plan for the virtual vehicle development
  • Create a “Bill of Assessment” to assess vehicle performance

Electric and autonomous robot taxi

RLE UK / P3 / Verne

Advanced simulation and multidisciplinary optimization for an autonomous electric vehicle programme.

Tasks
  • Find simulation experts and build a team for advanced simulation tasks and multidisciplinary optimization (MDO)
  • Conduct the MDO
  • Create specific input data for advanced tire models used in full vehicle driving simulation
Autonomous electric robot taxi in city operation
Result Delivered MDO results and tire model parameters within the given time and cost frame.

CAE method development

Altair Engineering

Method development for concept design in the Altair pre-processor, from the underlying ideas to the input data.

Tasks
  • Support the concept development program parts of the Altair pre-processor tool (skeleton modelling and design space creation)
  • Deliver test and input data for both methods
Concept vehicle skeleton model for design space and cross-section studies
Result The basic ideas for both methods were delivered, along with input data for a cross-section library and concept design space parts. Both methods and the data are implemented in the Altair pre-processor.
